Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier Pencil Review

On one of my beauty excursions to ULTA a few months ago, I purchased the Sue Devitt Eye Intensifier Pencil in ZAIRE. It is actually one of the first makeup products I have tried by this cosmetic line and it certainly won't be my last.

The color ZAIRE is best described as a plum purple color with a hint of shimmer. It's actually quite hard to detect any shimmer at all but there is a small amount. I have hazel eyes with more gold than green, and this shade really intensifies the green in them. Gorgeous!

The pencil is fat and has a rounded tip, not a pointy one like most eye liner pencils have. So make sure that you purchase the right sharpener for this or you could end up with jagged pencil edges. This happened to mine and I scratched my eye lid with the wood piece of the pencil. Ouch! So be careful.

It glides on smooth like silk and feels so velvety. It's water resistant, and smudge-proof but if you have oily eyelids like I do, this pencil might not last as long and possibly smudge off. So what I would suggest you do is apply an eye shadow primer like Urban Decay Primer Potion. That is what I used and I found that the liner stayed put a lot longer. Without the primer, the pencil melted off and drifted up into my crease. Not a pretty sight. You could also try using, Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil or Bisque powder on your lids.

What I love about this pencil is that it's so easy to use. Even if you are a novice at applying makeup, you can create a dramatic smoky eye look by using the sponge-tip applicator on the end of it. I do wish the applicator was softer though. It was somewhat stiff so I decided to use my smudger brush to smudge the liner.

For a thinner eye line, what I like to do sometimes is take my eye liner brush and rub it into the liner to get some color and apply it that way. It gives your eye a totally different look than a fat line does.

You can use it alone or as an eyeshadow. Either way this pencil looks and feels fantastic on.

The only downside to this wonderful product is the price...$22! Yes it is a lot of money to pay for a liner. But for me, I don't mind paying that price because it happens to be one of the best pencil liners I have used. And believe me, I have a lot of liners, from the high end to the low end ones and this one by Sue Devitt is my #1 choice.

Choose from 13 gorgeous shades:

You can purchase Sue Devitt's Eye Intensifier Pencils online at Beauty, Ulta, QVC, Amazon, and of course at Sue Devitt. They are also available at Barney's and other fine high end department stores.

Really liked this review. I used this product in the shade Pointe-Noir, which is basic black. I had a very similar experience and was very impressed by the staying power. Usually the easier an eye line goes on, the easier is wears off. But not in this case.

Best Wishes,

Hi Lash, glad you liked this pencil. I have since repurchased and they have changed the sponge-tip applicator to a much softer smaller one. It works so much better. Love these liners!
