EYESHADOWS:
MEET THE FLEET & ILLEGAL CARGO

MEET THE FLEET is described by Mac as a "matte midnight blue", and that is a fairly accurate description of the shade. But to me it looks more like a dark blue purple. For a matte eye shadow, it was easy to work with and blended well. And if you like the smokey eye look, this shade looks great for that! Normally, I can't wear blues at all but because of the purple undertone to this shadow, I was able to pull it off, which quite surprised me. It's really a gorgeous color and is one I reach for quite often now.

ILLEGAL CARGO
Mac describes this as a "mid-tone frosty grayed plum" and that is a perfect description of this shadow. It's nicely pigmented and not too shimmery at all. It's more of a cool toned plum than a warm toned one. I don't wear cool colors because most make me look washed out. But when I saw this shade I just had to try it. I am so glad I did. It's absolutely gorgeous paired with Meet The Fleet. My eyes are hazel and have more gold than green in them, and when I wear this, the green in my eyes seem to come alive. This is definitely a winner.

LUSTREGLASS-HEY, SAILOR

I have to say, I absolutely adore everything about this gloss – its color, its texture, its sheen, everything!

MAC describes the shade as a “blue plum pink with white pearl flecks.” To me, it seems more like a warm shade of plum (to put it simply). But just looking at the gloss, you can see the white pearl flecks described. And once applied to the lips – wow! It’s lightly tinted so that it won’t completely pigment your lips, but instead enhance your look.

However, there are other ways to get a different kind of shade out of it, such as applying MAC’s “Buoy-o-Buoy” lipstick first, then using the Hey Sailor Lustreglass as a second coat. So whether you’re looking for that sophisticated look or something fun-and-flirty, Hey Sailor’s the perfect shade of a sheer gloss for any and every occasion.

LUSTRE LIPSTICK-BUOY-O-BUOY

This is described as a "creamy neutral pink brown". It's more brown than pink and is a nice nude lipstick that's great for everyday wear. I like the smooth velvety texture of this lippie. However, on my pigmented lips, it doesn't give me enough color to suit my complexion. I decided to try the Hey, Sailor lustreglass on top, and wow, it really made the color pop. If you are doing a smokey eye, this would be a perfect neutral shade to compliment the look.

MAC PIGMENT-MUTINY

I have to say, although they can be messy to work with when you’re not exactly a “makeup pro,” MAC pigments have some of my favorite shades. It just so happens that this collection happens to contain four different pigments: Lark About, Mutiny, Bell-Bottom Blue, and Lovely Lily.

I myself am partial to Mutiny, which MAC describes as a “clean sky blue with gold pearl.” Since this pigment is fairly light, I would suggest using it to highlight an already “cool blue” look. You can use the pigment with a medium or simply dry – the dry look will, as previously suggested, give off a lighter tint. Using a medium would give the pigment a more prominent color though still the same shade of sky blue.

I think one of the most attractive attributes of the pigment would have to be the flecks of gold pearl that glimmer to give off a sophisticated look. It subtly compliments the light blue (which is pleasant, since too much sparkle can look tasteless, rendering the eyeshadow a turn off).

In my opinion, no “Naughty Nauticals” look can be complete without such a gorgeous pigment!

NAIL LACQUER-NAUGHTY NAUTICAL

MAC describes this polish as having a “dark royal blue” tint. Generally, I tend to stay clear of anything blue since it doesn’t exactly look flattering on me – but this color was too tempting to ignore. The color was so vivid and gave a sort of “metallic” sheen (but not so metallic that it seemed tacky) fits in well with this collection. Even with one simple coat, the color looks bright and complete! So if you want to add some drama to your look, this nail lacquer is absolutely perfect.
