Bobbi Brown Mauve Collection: Review + Swatches!

A few weeks ago I shared with all of you "makeup divas", pictures of the new Bobbi Brown Mauve Collection. You can view that post here. Since then, I have tried out a few of the products in this line and want to say that this collection is a must see.

L.E. MAUVE PALETTE $55

Palettes have always been crowd-pleasers for a number of reasons, one being, they take the guess work out of having to choose and match colors.
For me, I find myself in a quandary, faced with a dilemma every time I go shopping for cosmetics. And even though I do have a love hate relationship with palettes at times, I have come to appreciate them more and more. Besides who doesn't love a palette that will fit perfectly into your purse.

Bobbi Brown's sleek black Mauve palette consists of 3 Eye Shadows, one Blush, a creamy Lip Color, a Lip Sheer, and a Lip Color. All are cool neutral shades that are perfect for the fall and that will flatter a range of complexions.

Navajo is described as a sheer "creamy pinkish white" color. It looked more like a chalky ivory shade on my lids. It's not a perfect shade for me but still great to use as a wash or a highlighter.

Vintage is a "medium heather" shade. On my lids it looks like a sheer gray mauve. It's really pretty and my fave of the three.

Chocolate Mauve is a "dark brown plum" shade which is the darkest shade of the three. Don't let the dark color scare you away, it's not as dark on the eyes. You can create a subtle or sultry eye look using this shade. It can be used as a liner either wet or dry depending on the effect you want.

The eye shadows Vintage and Chocolate Mauve are new and exclusive to this palette. All are cool toned and have a creamy like texture that makes blending a breeze.

In center stage of the palette is the stunning Mauve Blush. A shade described as a muted dusty rose. Perfect for medium skin toned gals like myself. At first glance, I thought this was going to be too dark for me but as it turned out, it really complimented my skin tone.

The lip colors in this palette are Dusty Mauve, a creamy "medium icy brown" shade that barely showed up on my pigmented lips but still a very flattering color; Mauve, a sheer "pink heather" which has a little more pigment but is still quite sheer, and Vintage Mauve, a "medium reddish brown" that has the most pigment of the three.
All have a creamy texture and are long wearing.

Lip Gloss & Shimmer Lip Gloss $19

In addition to the palette I also tried the three lip glosses. Two are limited edition; Black Pearl Shimmer Gloss and Mauve Lip Gloss.

Iced Mauve Shimmer Lip Gloss is a "medium icy brown" that has just a hint of shimmer to it. Great consistency and is long wearing. I love the subtle scent of vanilla in this gloss. This is my fav out of the three. You can wear it alone for a natural look or paired with lip color.

Mauve is described as a "pink mauve", but on my lips it looked more like a mauve taupe. I love the consistency and the feel of it on the lips. It's loaded with high shine as you can see in the pic above.
I have to confess though, that when I first saw this gloss, I thought it was more suited for someone who likes the Goth look.
While this is a pretty shade that would suit most complexions, I am sad to say that it really didn't suit mine. Which is a shame because it really is a gorgeous color.

Black Pearl Shimmer Gloss is a "deep platinum heather" shade. This gloss is also ultra sheer with a hint of shimmer. This is my second fave of the three. These shimmer glosses really are packed with high shine and don't feel sticky or goopy on my lips.

All three contain soothing botanical extracts that help keep your lips soft and supple. Plus all three are scented with a hint of Vanilla.

So what are you going to purchase from this collection?

I love anything BB. I must put these on my chore list, although it's far from a chore.

I'd say I'm going to purchase first the Iced Mauve Shimmer lip gloss since its the one you bested among the three and I think its pretty safe for someone like me who always like nude shades and safe colors.

Girl-Woman I have one of those chore lists too and like you say, it's far from a chore.

Civita the Iced Mauve is the lighter shade of the three and I am sure you will love it.

I love these Bobbi Brown glosses, so natural and fab for the summer months when i go understated. Bit pricey though, managed to find them half price here http://www.beautyparlor.co.uk but wish they were a bit more affordable so I could buy from the highstreet! Loving the blog!
