Review: MAC Lustre Twins

Everybody has a personal preference when it comes to what you wear on your lips - I could be as vague as just to mention lipgloss or lipstick, or I could get into the specifics like "cream" or "sheer" lipsticks. But whatever your preference may be, I bet you want a product that's going to stay on for a long period of time. Because really, who wants to waste time reapplying lipgloss every other hour?

I guess this thought sprung upon the MAC team when they created the Lustre Twins, a collection of lipcolor duos (i.e. two tubes in one - you'll have to forgive me for not knowing the technical term) that are guaranteed to stay on for a long period of time.

I can personally testify to their durability - but first of all, let me mention my personal favorite: Pink Air/White Top. Pink Air (the Lustre) is described as a "light pink with pearl" and is the first thing to apply to the lips. This color will stay on the entire day - no lie. If you leave it on alone, however, the layer will crack a bit, which is why MAC provides you with atopcoat that's either sheer or accentuates the original color. White Top, a "clear white with red and pink pearl," is the sheer topcoat that protects the main color from any cracking or imperfections.

If you like a particular color, but wish it was altered just a bit, you can mix and match the lustres and top coats. I personally apply a lipstick shade to my lips first, then apply the lustre and finally the top coat. The color isn't the same, but it's definitely just as fabulous!

Also in this collection are three Nail Lacquers with a sheen never before seen. $$$$$ Yes is described as a Metallic silver foil; Perplexing is a deep blue purple, and last but not least is Firehouse a clean bright chrome red.

I agree with your point about personal preference - nonetheless I feel it is about what suits.
