MAC Brunette Blonde Redhead Review

One of MAC’s newest collections is aimed towards color-coordination through specific hair color: Brunette Blonde Redhead. Although I don’t claim how accurate such color-coordination is (I always thought makeup shade coordination as a multifaceted process), I do know that their Brunette collection worked fantastic for me.

One of the lipstick shades in their collection, “What A Do!” (a frost) is described as a neutral pink coral. On my lips, it turned up more bronze than anything (I suspect my skin tone played a good part in that) but it was still very flattering.

In addition to that lipstick shade, there’s also a lipglass shade I was rather fond of: Soft Wave, which is a tan bronze. The lipgloss is very color-true, as are most—if not all—MAC lipglosses. It looks glamorous either alone or over the What A Do! lipstick shade previously mentioned.

I find that, while part of the Redhead collection, the eyeshadow shade “Flip” (a bronze gold) goes nicely with the lipstick/lipglass shades. I suspect that Henna, a dark gold shade in the Brunette collection, would go better, but I haven’t had the opportunity to try that. It might be that since I have somewhat of an auburn tint in my hair (my eyes reflecting the same shade) that the eyeshadow complemented the look.

M.A.C. Mineralize Skinfinish in Blonde

M.A.C. Mineralize Skinfinish in Blonde is a soft pink to rose degrade that gives your cheeks a radiant glow. I personally love skinfinishes because they provide that finished touch to your skin. Even with the shimmer added, it's not too empowering. The "Anything Goes" rule basically applies to this, use it to highlight your cheekbones just below your eyes and bring it up towards your temple. Swipe down your nose, chin and or forehead for that just flushed glow. The coverage is light and sheer and does not looked caked on. If you don't want your pores emphasized I would suggest applying this with a light hand. Too much of it and your pores will appear like giant craters. I applied it too heavy and when I checked my makeup in natural sunlight, I was shocked at what I saw! So don't make the same mistake I did, go lightly and you will achieve that Red Carpet Look that the Hollywood stars have.
