Don't pump the wand of your mascara in and out of the tube. You are only pushing air inside and that will cause the product to dry out faster. Try turning the wand instead.

Yes, good advice. In addition, it is not a good idea to add anything to your mascara, such as oil or water. This can spread bacteria. If it has dried out, chances are it requires replacement.
