Beautisol Self Tanning Lotion Review

I'm all about finding the safest and easiest way to achieve that bronze-kissed tan look. I've tried the old fashioned way, basking in the sun for hours, but with all of the warnings about the sun's harmful UV rays may cause skin cancer, I decided on a more modern approach, tanning beds. These were once thought to be safer than the sun but as it turns out they have been added "to the list of the most dangerous forms of cancer-causing radiation." Read more about this here. So I ditched both of these methods and opted for a more safer, healthier alternative to getting a tan...self tanning lotions. Which brings me to BEAUTISOL.

Beautisol was founded by a beauty blogger, Sinead Norenius, who used her experience as a licensed aesthetician and educator as well as input from her blogging experience (Self Tanning Queen) to develop a unique company and product line.



Beautisol recently launched its first unique product line of self tanners, Summer Glow – a dark self-tanning lotion and professional spray tan solution and All Seasons Glow – a gradual self-tanning lotion.

Sinead Norenius, contacted me and asked me if I would be interested in reviewing her products. Even though I am not a fan of self tanners, since some are messy, leave streaks and can leave you smelling like a microwave, I found that her passion and enthusiasm for skin care and skin care protection, piqued my interest.

She sent me two products to try, Summer Glow and Go Slough Yourself.

Before you get your glow on it's important that you exfoliate your skin in the shower. This will help to slough off the dead skin cells, which don't tan.

Go Slough Yourself is a dual action scrub (face and body)that is perfect for getting the job done. I love the smell of this scrub! I put a small amount of it onto my exfoliating gloves and massage it all over my body in a circular motion. It left my skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth. The tiny white beads (aka diatomaceous earth) are gentle on the skin and they get the job done of removing dead skin cells.


Summer Glow is a dark tanning lotion that will make any pale skin look tanned. The lotion is packed with powerful antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients that help nourish and hydrate the skin. The dark tan is achieved by using DHA, a sugar derivative, which reacts to your own body’s amino acids resulting in a browning effect on the surface of the skin.

I first tested this on my daughter because her skin is lighter than mine and I wanted to be able to see a difference in the color change. On my skin it is harder to notice because at the time of testing I was still tanned [we live in sunny Florida].
When you first pump out a dollop of this lotion, it might look a little intimidating but have no fear, it absorbs well. It's non greasy, streak-free and it smells nice.

Within the hour we could see a color difference that looked like a natural golden brown tan. I was so surprised at how natural it looked that I used it the next day on my legs. My skin looked beautifully tanned as if I had vacationed in St. Tropez! It delivers an incredibly natural-looking sunless tan. What is so unique about this product is that you get results! You don't get that burnt microwave skin smell nor will your skin look like you bathed in carrot juice.

I am completely sold on this lotion! Seriously folks, this stuff really works.

UPDATE: Beautisol is formerly known as Antidote Skin Care. Even though the name has changed the products are still the same. Some of the new updates are they feature "SMELL RIGHT" fragrance technology instead of malodor counteractant for what encapsulates the yucky processing smell when the color is developing. Also their products are paraben-free and PETA certified.
